Innovative Treatment Options
While the use of GLP-1 medications for substance cravings is considered off-label and is not currently FDA-approved for the treatment of substance use disorders, early clinical studies and patient experiences have shown promising results. These medications may help decrease the intensity and frequency of cravings by affecting areas of the brain involved in reward, motivation, and impulse control.
We take an individualized, evidence-informed approach to care. If appropriate, we can discuss whether off-label GLP-1 therapy may be a reasonable option as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Medication is intended to complement, not replace, counseling, behavioral therapies, and other evidence-based treatments for substance use disorders.
Every treatment plan is personalized based on your medical history, health goals, and individual needs.
